Our Case Studies
Hydraforce
- WD Group were appointed by multi-diciplinary contractor the Buckingham Group, to supply and install the complete aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling to the façade of the Advanced Manufacturing Hubs headquarters. Along with the fenestration works, we were also tasked with designing and manufacturing bespoke brise soleil due to the intricacies.
With a deadline of 10 weeks for completion, we utilised ALUK’s 58BW window systems, 58BD and GT55 TB door systems as well as SL52 curtain walling. Industrial development specialist, First Industrial, wanted to create a manufacturing unit that met specific sustainability requirements and the ALUK systems specified helped the project to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, as well as meeting the architect’s design intent of slim sight-lines and profile sizes. In addition, low-E grey anti-sun glazing was used to complete the systems and provide much needed daylight to the factory floor.
Tredegar Road
WD Group were contracted to manufacture and install all Windows, Doors and Curtain Walling to the Tredegar Road Development in London. Using a range of ALUK products we were able to match the architects design request for slim profile windows and curtain walling. We were also able to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, with components comfortably exceeding the current Building Regulations Part L1A minimum U value for windows of 2.00 W/m2 K.
- In addition, the Reynaers curtain walling applied to the penthouse is fire rated to 60 minute. The overall project took 12 months to complete.
Ash Lawn School
- Having established ourselves as the clients preferred sub-contractor during phase one of the school redevelopment, WD Group were contracted to manufacture and install all the glazing in the second phase using Kestrel Aluminium window and door components.
A total of 97 windows were manufactured, all specified to be top hung using restricted hinges to comply with building safety regulations for schools and public buildings. Opting to use the complete 150mm cill section the windows sit neatly in the opening and have a uniform aesthetic using black accessories externally and silver internally.
As with all new buildings, ensuring they are thermally efficient and secure the Kestrel thermal framing and thermal commercial door systems were installed. All the entrances to the building are fully secure and the commercial door system has been tested to achieve PAS24 security standard.
St Osmund’s CE Middle School
WD Group have undertaken the glazing & Curtain Walling packages at St Osmund’s CE Middle School, Dorchester. Due to increasing demand for schools in the Dorchester area, a new two storey detached building has been constructed .
The new building provides four additional classrooms, a multi-purpose resource teaching space and a new dining hall and kitchen.
The glazing screens were constructed from Technal MX52 Capped Curtain Walling with Technal FY65 Pivot & Top Hung Window inserts.
- WD Group also installed the feature solar shading within the curtain walling screens across the building. Technal FY65 Top Hung Vents are operated by electric actuators providing natural ventilation & cooling throughout the building.
1 Park Road
- 1 Park Road Teddington, is a prominent 4 storey office building situated in the heart of Teddington town centre. The building has just undergone a comprehensive back to frame refurbishment by Colevin Interiors Ltd.
WD Group facilitated the removal of the existing aluminium single glazing system, and upgraded the glazing element with Technal FY65 Commercial Window System. One of the elevations of the building runs along a main railway into London where WD Group overcame complex hurdles in order to complete the installation.
Technal MX52 Trame Vertical Curtain walling was installed to the glazed façade stairwell to provide a feature to the building and to provide natural light to the atrium.
